A CITY man appeared in court accused of stealing 181 bags of cement worth $5 630.
Knowledge Parwaringira, 38, appeared before Harare magistrate Joy Chikodzore charged with theft.
The complainant in this matter is Rio Douro Construction represented by its production manager Gideon Mushaike.
The matter was remanded to May 22.
Allegations are that on May 2 this year around 3pm in Borrowdale, a stock take was carried out by Mushaike in the presence of Parwaringira in respect of cement bags received at the site.
After the stock take, Mushaike discovered that there were some bags of cement missing.
The project had received 1 520 bags of cement, 849 bags were used and less than 490 bags were available.
Referencing to Parwaringira’s stock book, 181 bags of cement were missing.
Parwaringira as the sole holder of keys to the cement containers and accountable to stocks received and issued out at the site was asked about the shortage and he failed to explain.
The matter was reported to Borrowdale police which led to Parwaringira’s arrest and subsequent appearance in court.
