Global collaborations and corporations by nations are key in finding solutions to fight Covid-19, a Government official has said.

This was said by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Deputy Minister David Musabayana after receiving equipment donated by Chinese billionaire Jack Ma through his foundation.

The consignment included over two million masks and test kits also donated to different parts of Africa.

The equipment was handed over by Ethopian Embassy’s Counsellor Golija Siba Korra yesterday at the RGM International Airport.

“We have realised that globalisation is taking traction after thinking that it’s all about trade and economies but it has proven that when we encounter challenges they also become global.

“When we have global challenges we need corporations and collaborations as nations to work together.

“We are really humbled by this gesture by Jack Ma Foundation, that has donated the equipment to Africa, this has really come at a time when we really needed equipment to protect our people,” he said.

Deputy Minister Musabaya said the equipment will go a long way in ensuring that doctors and nurses combating the pandemic are well equipped.

He said the equipment will be handed over to the Health and Child Care ministry for dispatch today.

In a statement the Chinese Ambassador H.E. Ambassador Guo Shaochun promised to continue fighting the pandemic.

“The consignment arrived in Harare and was well received by the government just now. It came at a critical and most needed time.

“We are a community. We need solidarity, not discrimination and stigmatization. More from the Chinese government and the local Chinese enterprises will come,” he said
