Star FM presenter and entrepreneur, Memory Mugabe, will reward hardworking women in business with certificates of merit at this year’s MamaPreneurs Awards ceremony

Now in its third edition, the event has been slated for the Rainbow Towers’ Jacaranda Room on December 18.

It will be held under the theme “Women Striving for Success”.

In an interview with H-Metro ahead of the event, Mugabe said hard working women deserved to be honoured.

“The theme for MamaPreneurs Awards celebrates and honours those women who have thrived in crisis; what we are calling a crisis here is the Covid-19 pandemic where women worked hard and achieved a lot during the lockdown.

“Many offices closed but women continued working hard during the touch times,” she said.

Mugabe, whose movement has a membership of over 5000 countrywide, said they have been linking up with various women virtually.

“We used to do online training workshops, we now have women who acquired drivers licences who were studying online.

“We have women who bought houses, acquired residential stands and made remarkable developments on lockdown.

“We are celebrating women who made progress in their lives,” she said.

She, however, said that they will also celebrate women who lost their spouses/partners on lockdown.

“We have women who lost their relatives on lockdown who continued doing well.

“We have two women from MamaPrenuers who lost their husbands on lockdown but they strived for success and they will be winning awards,” said Mugabe.

MamaPrenuers awards aimed at empowering with entrepreneurship was two years ago.

“We started off with a high tea event in 2019 in Highlands, last year we held an event in Avondale and this year we are holding the same awards ceremony at Rainbow Towers,” she added.

Meanwhile women will be vying for award in categories such as Long service, Tireless Team Player, Business Woman of the Year, Goal Getter, Outstanding Maid of the Year, Inspirational Women of the Year among others.
