A 69-year-old granny, her daughter and her three grandchildren were found dead yesterday in Mavhuradonha Mountain.
According to national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the five had attempted a 200 km walk from Manhondo village in Mukumbura, Mt Darwin to Guruve.
The family had also gone missing since November 3.
An unidentified hunter who was on his early morning escapades is said to have discovered the dead bodies during his morning escapades.
“The ZRP reports that bodies of five people aged 69, 29, seven, five and a one year old minor, were found at Mavhuradonha Mountain today (yesterday) by a hunter who then reported to the police.
“It is claimed that the family had left Manhondo Village, Mukumbura, Mt Darwin on foot on their way to Guruve, a distance of about 200km on0November 3.
“More details to follow,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.
Police say they are yet to establish the cause of death and notify next of kin.
Investigations into the unfortunate incident are currently underway and police were to recover the bodies to the closest mortuary by time of going to print.
