THE vice-president of the Africa Strongman Association has endorsed the Zimbabwe competition set for May 11 at the University of Zimbabwe.

Partson Muzondiwa, who is also the president of Zambia Strongman Association said, the competition is the dawn of a new era.

Zimpapers are among the partners for the event and there is still room for more partners to come on board.

More than 20 participants are expected to grace the event.

“I am here to support Zimbabwe’s Strongman competition and this is a pioneer event which is marking the beginning of a new era.

“As Africa Strongman, we had to make sure we send a representative to see if everything is in line.

“I am honoured to be here and see the progress Zimbabwe has made and ensure the event happens.

“As a board, we are here to support them.”

Muzondiwa added:

“We have competed for the past four years internationally. We have been to the Arnold Classic and I have also seen some Zimbabweans there.

“I am not surprised Zimbabwe will take this to the next level,” he said.

Event organiser and founder of the Zimbabwe Strongman Association, Knowledge Muzengi, said everything was falling into place.

“It’s going well and the support we are getting is overwhelming.

“Over 10 participants have confirmed their participation and there will also be other competitors from Kenya, Zambia, Congo and Rwanda.

“We are excited and the doors are still open for sponsors who want to be part of this.

“Let’s make history together.”

He added:

“It’s open to everyone and if you believe you are the strongest, be there at this competition.

“Men and women, you are all welcome.

“I am sure, people have seen Chido Maenzanise, she is doing well but she only needs support so that we can push this sport to the next level.”
