ZIMBABWEANS based in Johannesburg and surrounding town will this weekend descend on Yeoville to witness the official opening of the House of Shisaka which will become one of the trendiest entertainment centres catering for the Zim market.
The new joint is the brainchild of Shisaka Entertainment boss Tapuwa “Boyaman” Shiridzinomwa who turned a rugged old Rasta House into a modern indoor arena that will provide both musical and sports entertainment.
“We wanted to have a place we call our own where we can mix and mingle enjoy live music performances by both Zimbabwean artistes and other from South Africa and the continent,” said Shiridzinomwa yesterday.
“We have stuck to our word that we will open before the end of May and we are happy with the progress made and indeed our doors will open on Saturday,” he added.
It is a dream come true for the man who has taken the Jozi entertainment scene by storm after being in the industry for less than 18 months. His company has been behind mega-successful shows in both Johannesburg and Cape Town. In a short space of time they have hosted big artists such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Winky D, Andy Muridzo, Freeman, Killer T and others.
They went further and brought Jamaican chanter Beenie Man late last year on one of his rare tours of the continent. The Shisaka team is blessed with an array of talent that includes MCees Rico Myers and Sean B Shauyele, DJs Goofy Gucci Vybz and Big Fadda Reason Chikwavira making it one of the few such establishments.
This weekend’s festivities kick off on Saturday night where Seh Calaz will headline live performances with the likes of Nutty O, Vicious, DJ Mofaya and South African kwaito star Brickz. Others scheduled to perform include DJ Coppershot and Bobotikal.
The event has been endorsed by leaders in entertainment circles both home and abroad such as Bodyslam boss Simba Chakare, reggae artist Buffalo Souljah as well as many Zim dancehall artists like Freeman, Jah Child and others.
Shisaka will host their first official Mad Sundays that will be graced by Chillspot Family crew of Fantan, DJ Ribe and Levels. Ras Caleb of the Tokwe-Mukorsi fame will perform live together with Master H while SA-based DJ Pepe will be on the turntables.
The venue is situated at 123 Hunter Street in Yeoville and on June 16 will play host to Freeman, Hwindi President and Tocky Vibes. It can take over 500 revellers indoors making it an ideal chillspot in winter as it has heating facilities.
