Musician Allan Cimbetu’s son was yesterday dragged to court after he allegedly stole a cellphone that was left under his care.
Donovan Chimbetu pleaded guilty when he appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Chigodora.
It is the State’s case that Chimbetu, 18, who is a student at Ellis Robins Boys High School, was asked to keep Lawrence Mukonori’s iPhone 6 as he was playing a football match.
Mukonori asked for the phone after the match but Chimbetu failed to return it.
A police report was made leading to Chimbetu’s arrest and the case was through pretrial diversion as he was admitting to the charge.
However, diversion could not take place as Chimbetu failed to return the phone or replace it as the conditions of the diversion.
Allan Chimbetu pleaded with the court to pardon his son and promised to replace the phone after his tour overseas.
