A STUDENT from Kuwadzana is set to launch a talent show in December aimed at raising awareness towards drug and substance abuse.

Dubbed “Kuwadzana Got Talent”,  the show held its first and second auditions in June and the final is set for the end of the year.

Truth Jeketera, who is an Upper Sixth student, said he found out that most youths in his community were engaging in drugs and substance abuse yet they had talent in visual and performing arts.

The only way to lure them to stop drugs was through a talent show.

The talent show explores all categories of art so as to accommodate everyone but singing, dancing and modelling are the major categories to be contested in.

“I have witnessed the devastating effects of drug and substance abuse on our community’s youths first hand.

“It is heartbreaking to see their potential wasted and their lives derailed.

“This platform not only entertains but also educates and inspires them to choose a healthier path.

“My community has appreciated this initiative and I am grateful to the various partners who are working with me towards a positive change.

“This proves that we are not alone but the community is standing together to fight the abuse.

“Through this talent show we hope to shine a light on the incredible potential within each person steering them away from a destructive path,” said Truth.
