Antipas backs White Lion

CHICKEN Inn technical director, Joey Antipas, has backed forward Calum-English Brown to shine at the club.

Antipas is not convinced the White Lion has flopped.

He has only been on the field for 21 minutes in 18 games.

The Gamecocks shrugged off competition from Dynamos, Highlanders, Simba Bhora, Green Fuel and

Manica Diamonds to get the only white player in the Castle Lager Premiership.

Brown impressed at WhaWha last season in an unsuccessful campaign in which the club ended up being relegated.

The Legends Academy graduate penned a two-year loan deal with the Gamecocks earlier this season.

Antipas said the injury, which Brown sustained during pre-season, might have stalled his progress.

“He is a good player and I think he has now rediscovered his best, he has been performing well at training.

“He now needs to maintain what he has been doing to regain the trust of the coach because he is not the only player waiting for the same chance.

“It’s every player’s wish to get the nod but I think it’s also too early to count him out, there’s still time for him to show what he can do.”

He added:

“I think the injury, which he picked towards the start of the season, has also disturbed his progress.

“He has been trying to get fit but the minor injuries, which he has been picking, are also to blame.

“He also needs to try his best to avoid injuries because he is still young, he really needs to play every week.”
