Artist with disability cries foul

MUTARE-BASED artist, Leo “Macho Man” Chitsinde, has challenged promoters to create a friendly space for disabled artists during live performances.

He issued the plea at an event held by POVOAfrika last week.

Macho Man, who is disabled, said that promoters are not giving disabled artists a chance to showcase their talents.

The artist has been on the Diamond FM music charts for months on number one.

“When other artists are performing, artists like us are not given a chance during those live shows.

“My songs will be on Diamond FM on number one for months because people love my music, the issue will then come when they are live shows.

“It is only my wish for promoters to involve disabled artists on their line-ups.

“Sometimes, the problem is that the stages are not friendly for disabled artists,” he said.

Chipo Muchegwa, who is producing her music under POVOAfrika, promised Macho Man a collaboration.

“It will be an honour for me to have a song with you,” said Macho Man.

“I always tell my grandmother that I would love to do a song with Chipo and she would discourage  me saying it’s not possible.”
