MARITZBURG United forward Clive Augusto said he is not worried by lack of game time saying he learns while on the sidelines.

Augusto joined the Absa Premiership club mid-season last year after a successful six months with Chicken Inn.

He scored 14 goals in six months that saw him attracting foreign interests.

He is currently struggling with game time but said he is not worried.

“I am happy here. Yes, I am not getting game time but that is an advantage for me.

“Unlike other players not getting game time does not hurt me, it rather motivates me. I am that type of a player who learns more when I am not in action.

“This is helping me prepare for my next European move. I am not in action regularly and that is giving me an opportunity to watch and learn,” said Augusto.

The former Ngezi Platinum player said he is optimistic of a brighter future.

He said what is currently happening to him has happened to him before.

Augusto struggled to get game time when he was still at Ngezi in the 2018 season and went on to flourish at Chicken Inn.

“Besides not getting game time, there was a time when I was de-registered for the whole season when I was at Ngezi.

“I was registered the next season, I had a good season and I also got couple of national team call ups.

“I have been through the worst of times and I know after times like these I would be unstoppable.

“Times like these prepare me for better times. My next move will be Europe, watch the space, I have a lot of targets I am yet to reach,” added the 25-year-old star.

The Soccer Star of the Year finalist said he does not have regrets over his move to South Africa.

“We all make bad decisions but we also learn from them. I am not regretting. I am learning.

“I am happy I came to SA, I changed environment and I learned and I am sure I have improved my play.

“It has been a long journey and I am optimistic more is yet to come. It’s a passing phase and I know in due time I will back on top where I belong.

“I still want to represent my country and I know that will come true,” he said.
