THE second edition of Bars to Bars National Rap League is set to take place on Sunday in Harare where emerging artists will showcase their raw talent at neighbourhood and intercity levels.
The event will feature an open mic competition, ‘King of Bars’ contest, open to all aspiring emcees, highlighting the growth of rap culture in Zimbabwe.
The open mic competition is aimed at ensuring that the occasion is all-inclusive and gives artists outside the established rap scene an opportunity to showcase their talent.
Multi award winning rapper, Noble Stylz, will host the event, which celebrates the genre’s 50th anniversary, and will showcase a contest between Budiriro and Glen view rappers.
It will also feature DJ Scar spinning the biggest hip-hop songs.
“The growth of rap culture in Zimbabwe has been nothing short of remarkable in recent years.
“It was once considered a niche art form, but it has now taken centre stage.
“We are hoping to take this event to Mutare and other cities as we recognise the significance of the rap culture in Zimbabwe,” said Noble Stylz.
