INFORMATION, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Jenfan Muswere, says Zimpapers should continue defending its profile as the certifier of the truth.
Although social media had changed the landscape in the media industry, Min Muswere said established entities like Zimpapers should always distinguish themselves as the voices of the truth.
He toured Herald House yesterday, which houses The Herald, Sunday Mail, Kwayedza, Kwayedza Dzidza, Business Weekly, Suburban and H-Metro newsrooms and the Zimpapers Television Network (ZTN).
Minister Muswere reiterated the need for a Ministerial Advisory Committee to help with the education, information, and entertainment of the nation for national development.
“You have already made a name as Zimpapers,” he said.
“Defend your name by remaining the certifier of truth.
“In this era, everyone with a cellphone or related gadget wants to post or publish news.
“Let the nation and world rely on getting the truth from Zimpapers’ stables for correct information.”
He called on ZTN to acquire state-of-the-art equipment to meet international standards.
“Let us say ZTN is the only television station in the country, is your equipment good enough to satisfy the viewers at large?
“Generally, I was impressed with ZTN for its digital aspect.”
