WARRIORS star Khama Billiat’s wonder goal against SuperSport United last Friday, which earned him the man of the match award, might have sent shivers into the Congo Brazzaville camp.
Zimbabwe host the Red Devils at the National Sports Stadium in a final AFCON qualifier, which they need at least a point to qualify for the June finals to be hosted by Egypt.
And going into the match, Billiat has hit top form and is being showered with praises by fans on social media after his goal rescued a point for his side Kaizer Chiefs.
Of much importance is his performance in the match ahead of a date against the central African side which holds fate for Sunday Chidzambwa’s men.
This means Billiat continue to silence critics over his performances and quelled talk of lack of fitness by playing the whole match against Kaitano Tembo’s team.
Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare said Billiat has proved his critics wrong ahead of national team duty.
“Definitely, this good performance comes at the right time for us,” said Mpandare.
Zimbabwe go into Sunday’s match looking for a point to secure a place for the AFCON finals to be hosted by Egypt in June.
The boys have been warned of complacency ahead of the decisive encounter with Chidzambwa reiterating how they are mentally prepared for the match.
Mpandare said Billiat’s performance also gives the nation assurance that one of their keys players is fit after a talk of the skillful midfielder’s fitness.
“He played the full game so it proves he is fit, we knew he was fit whatever was happening at his club,” said Mpandare.
