FOUR Harare men have been arrested for posing as detectives from CID Homicide and robbing a man. Praise Ngonidzashe Mundoringisa, Owen Pfani, Denford Kasambarare and Nigel Regis Rongai were caught after a tip-off to the police.
They appeared before Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei who remanded them in custody.
The court heard that on November 8, the four were driving around Waterfalls in a white Toyota Belta.
They allegedly stopped Shadreck Bangura, who was driving a Honda Fit, and told him that he was under arrest for committing robberies using his vehicle.
They allegedly forced Bangura to drive to his house and demanded cash and groceries from him.
They also robbed other passengers in the vehicle.
After the gang drove off in his vehicle, Bangura contacted the police, who waylaid the robbers leading to their arrest and the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
The robbers were found in possession of a police identity card, a pair of handcuffs, one hand grenade irritant canister and a laser shocker.
