TWO suspected conmen are in trouble for allegedly selling a stand they didn’t own for US$100 000.

The duo, Micheal Makata and Wonder Sande are accused of selling a Pomona stand to Amos Mupuri of Belvedere using fake documents.

It is alleged that from January to April last year, the duo connived with their accomplice, who is still at large, to defraud Mupuri.

The State alleged that Makata approached Sande and indicated he had a residential stand located at Number 570 Pomona, Borrowdale, Harare.

Sande agreed and Makata facilitated the deed transfer into his name.

The duo used the deed to misrepresent to Mupuri that they owned the property.

Acting on the misrepresentation, Mupuri paid US$9500 in installments towards the purchase of the property.

The duo collected the money in person on several occasions and as a way to cover up the offence, they persuaded Mupuri to use their legal practitioner for conveyancing for US$5 600.

The offence came to light when Mupuri realised that someone else was claiming ownership of the residential stand sold to him and discovered that his deed of transfer was fake.
