APART from the battle for three points, the Castle Lager Premiership showdown between Ngezi Platinum Stars and Dynamos on Saturday will have an interesting sub plot.

The battle for egos.

About eight players, who have played for both clubs, are likely to feature in the battle on Saturday.

Ngezi Platinum Stars have four former Dynamos players within their ranks – Qadr Amini, Denver Mukamba, Marvelous Mukumba and Valentine Kadonzvo.

Some even refer to the Mhondoro-Ngezi based side as DeMbare Rural.

And, DeMbare also have, within their ranks, former Ngezi Platinum players – Frank Makarati, Keith Murera, Godknows Murwira and Patson Jaure.

Jaure and Murwira turned out for Madamburo, after making their names at DeMbare, and are in their second stint at the Harare giants.

DeMbare coach Tonderai Ndiraya also coached Ngezi Platinum and has been involved in the movement of most of these players.

Ndiraya is the one who lured Murwira and Jaure to Ngezi and back to Dynamos again.

He also lured Makarati and Murera to the Glamour Boys.

As if that is not enough, the head coaches of both teams are also set for a reunion during this match.

Ndiraya and Benjani Mwaruwari were together at the Warriors though their romance did not last long.

Going into the match, DeMbare have been impressive, winning their last five matches, and have now moved into second place in the championship race.

The Glamour Boys are enjoying a purple patch that has seen them finding the back of the net nine times, in five matches.

Their defence has been the best so far in the league, conceding only four goals in four games, and scoring 13 goals, in 10 matches.

And, for Benjani, the match will test his credentials since it is his first time to face a big team, since taking over at Baobab.

Ngezi are coming from a 1-1 draw against Bulawayo Chiefs.

Both coaches have already spoken about the forthcoming match and are taking a cautious approach.

This probably explains the high stakes of this game.
