Paul Pindani in Chinhoyi
Two brothers who beat up a man before robbing him of US$200 appeared in court.
Clever, 28, and Tineyi Nyamasoka, 28, of Nyamasoka Village Kamhonde, appeared before Chinhoyi Provincial Magistrate Lisa Mutendereki charged with robbery.
The two were sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment where three months were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The other three months were suspended on condition that they restitute the complainant of US$200.
The two will serve an effective six months in prison.
The complainant in this case is Witness Chirenje of Chagumuka Village.
Prosecuting, Irene Mapfumo told the court that in October 2020 Chirenje was at Madenhe Business Centre with his friends and as he tried to get out of the shop with one Muchaneta, he saw Tineyi coming from the opposite direction.
Tineyi asked Chirenje why he was walking with Muchaneta since he claimed she was his wife.
Chirenje told him that they were not walking together and this infuriated Tineyi who started pushing Muchaneta.
When Clever saw this he ran with a knob and hit Chirenje on the face and he fell down and they stole US$200, CBZ bank card and an identity card.
The complainant sustained a swollen face and three of his teeth were left shaking.
