A BUSINESSMAN lost a Land Cruiser, with armed robbers using the car to load the loot and as a gateaway vehicle, after they attacked his family last year.
One of the suspected robbers, Augustine Zvenyika, was nabbed and appeared in court yesterday.
The court heard that on November 29 last year, Zvenyika and his accomplices – Raphael Chamangwana, Onward Mukwiza, Partson Magore, Elton Chichoka and Danmore Kasemba – who are already on remand and others who are still at large, went to the businessman’s house in Dema armed with four pistols.
They allegedly overpowered the businessman’s security guard, broke in and started assaulting the businessman and his wife, demanding cash.
The robbers were given a purse containing US$800, and they started ransacking the house.
They allegedly stole clothes, a Revolver Taurus and a cellphone.
They stole his the businessman’s Toyota Land Cruiser and a Jeep Cherokee, which they used them as getaway cars.
Zvenyika was arrested on Saturday.
He was remanded in custody and was advised to approach the High Court for bail considerations.
