A HARARE businesswoman hauled her business partner Tendai Chaponda to court who allegedly duped her of printing equipment worth US$40 000.
Karen Bernadine Culfear sought relief at the High Court before Justice Edith Mushore seeking that she orders a ‘Rei Vindicto’ against Chaponda ordering him to return all that belongs to her.
It is alleged that Culfear met Chaponda last year and the two agreed to start a company in which Culfear would buy equipment in China.
The two are said to have gone to China and decided on the types of machines with Culfear meeting the costs.
Whilst in China, Culfear paid $34 790 for the equipment and paid another $11 000 when they got back, through Chaponda who was supposed to pay duty.
It is further alleged that as the equipment got to Zimbabwe, Chaponda became evasive and registered a company named Ominal Enterprises and is sited in the court papers as the second respondent.
Culfear claimed that Chaponda hindered her from having access to her machinery and is the reason why she has prompted to take the legal route.
Culfear has also placed criminal charges against Chaponda who will appear before a Harare magistrate on June 5.
