THIS week we ran a poll on Twitter asking fans whether CAPS United will be relegated from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League this season.

When the one-day poll closed at midday yesterday, 392 people had cast their votes, and 52 percent believed Makepekepe will survive.

Forty eight percent of the respondents feel the Green Machine will be dumped to the unfashionable world of Division One football next season.

It’s a tight outcome which means there is a real possibility, especially among their fans, that their beloved club will go down.

With six games to get to the end of the season, CAPS United are wallowing in 13th place with 31 points.

They have managed seven wins, 10 draws, and 11 losses from the 28 games.

CAPS United meet Triangle United at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Meanwhile, captain, Pheneas Bamusi, has vowed to win back the fans’ trust.

A section of Makepekepe’s fans cheered Yadah players after a 0-1 loss to the Miracle Boys last weekend.

“The fans should expect a good response from everyone donning the club’s colours on Sunday,” said Bamusi.

“We have been preparing for the assignment the same way we have been doing in our previous fixtures.

“There’s no room for another lifeless performance.”

Bamusi rejoined CAPS United from Triangle at the end of the 2018 Castle Lager Premiership season.

The 30-year-old’s recent poor form has seen him being criticised for not leading from the front, like a true captain.

“There’s always pressure that comes with facing your former bosses.

“I’m not going to look into all that but to look at how we can collect maximum points.

“We will have ourselves to blame if we fail to deliver what is expected of us by the fans.”
