A LOCAL car rental firm lost a vehicle to a client who provided false identification particulars and did not return the vehicle.
TopSnash Car Rental lost their vehicle to Prince Manyika (33), who provided two different national identity cards, both with his photograph but different names. The other ID had the name Tinashe Munetsi, aged 36.
TopSnash director, Munashe Lovejoy Chitapa, said that the company has been facing challenges with robbers posing as potential clients.
“We have been facing challenges in our business fighting robbers who come as potential clients,” said Munashe.
“We lost some vehicles and we recently managed to recover one of the vehicles that had been sold to someone, but the culprit is yet to be arrested.
“A number of robbers are coming to try their luck and they visit us daily and we thank police for bringing some of them to book,” said Chitapa.
Other car rental companies have also been targeted by car thieves during the festive season, with one suspected thief, Nadine Zata, reported to be on the run as she faces car theft charges.
She is popularly known as Tafadzwa Makoni at various car rental companies.
