Chinhoyi based music producer Lloyd  “Cashflow”Karirira is happy to be nominated for the Zim- dancehall Best Producer Outside Harare category.

Cashflow told H-metro that he could not hide his joy, especially knowing that this is the first time someone based in Chinhoyi gets recogninsed nationally.

He said that there were many artistes such as  Brian Kadengu, who was recently nominated for the Star FM awards but he had already relocated.

Karirira said that he was truly happy and believes that God has  kept his promises as this is his  3rd year in the music industry.

” Just being nominated is an achievement already. This is a major step not only for Chinhoyi but for Mashwest because this shows they are listening to our works.

“I am now sure its easy for us to push our music and arts further because we know they are recognising towns outside Harare.

“This is history in the making,” he said.

Cashflow was born on August 11th, 1998 and went to school at Lomagundi Primary and Chinhoyi High School

He started producing riddims in 2017 at their farm and  spent most of his  time on the laptop.

Cashflow took music seriously when he realised some local artists from Banket were appreciating his instrumentals and had to start his own record label.

“For that time I did not have proper equipment, so, yes the productions were not standard but my name grew.

“In December 2018 I moved to Chinhoyi to do it more professionally and got to work under a certain record label. In the year 2019 I was awarded Best Producer In Mash West by Nyaminyami FM.

“That same year I produced a hit song which is still in circulation called Kupinda Nemusoro. The song was voted best song in Mash West and I also had seven more songs in the Nyaminyami FM Top 50,” said Cashflow.

In the year 2020 he  was again awarded the same award and had six songs in the Top 50 with the best song sitting at number two.

Cashflow has worked with well-known artistes including Dino Mudondo , Lady Squanda and Ti-Gonzi and also top producers, Cashlibs and Marlon T.

Locally his inspiration comes from JMP and Oskid and then Alan Walker internationally.

“I see myself as the Zimbabwean version of him. It’s not easy to get airplay and it’s something which needs to be looked into to see how underground artists and producers can get their music to the radio stations fairly,”

“Personally I dont have any equipment so I work by hiring other studios for recording, mixing and mastering all the projects. I also think for us to be easily recognised we need to host our own Provincial Awards,”

He has worked with many first timers and some who have been there but not recording professionally.

Cashflow has groomed two Star Bright finalists, Ropa Annointed Guveya and Ashley Shiri.

“I  worked with these ladies for just a year but we actually grew musically. Ashley will be releasing her Gospel Album (my production) on the 27th of March. I worked with Tony K, Stambo Tee, MCB Chibreaker, PVD, Nyaradzo 263, Minister Normal Joseph, Preacher Man, Trinky Man and many.

“If  I am to say Chinhoyi has loads of talent I might be lying  because I have seen a lot! There is more than just music here. Music we have here can go viral nationally but only that we are lacking proper marketing strategies,” said Cashflow.

He added;

“We have musicians here who can go big and raise our national flag higher if they get the chance to be on the national scene”
