MANICA Diamonds star, Liberty Chakoroma is confident the Gem Boys will triumph against Ngezi Platinum on Saturday at Baobab.
It is a top-of-the-table clash pitting the second placed visitors against third-placed hosts who are level on 39 points, two behind leaders Highlanders.
Chakoroma was the captain when Ngezi Platinum won the Chibuku Super Cup in their maiden season eight years ago.
Jairosi Tapera’s Manica Diamonds will travel to Baobab Stadium as underdogs despite having a good start to the second half of the campaign.
Chakoroma has been doubling roles as he is being deployed as an anchorman and sometimes as a central defender.
He told Zimpapers Sports that they are ready to drown his former employers.
“I will always have a special place for Ngezi Platinum in my heart, I was there when the team made history but it’s now all in the past, Manica Diamonds are now my future and it means I have to put everything possible to achieve something with this club.
“We are going to play our hearts out at Baobab, we know what is expected from us by our bosses and, importantly, our fans who have been made to travel in all the 21 games which we have played.
“It is something which is giving us the extra edge because it does not feel good to disappoint people who have shown such great commitment.
“Ngezi have been one of the best performing sides in this campaign and their form is not going to make it easy for us to get the desired points.
“But, we are going to try the best we can to win it for our fans, because we have shown them that we have the capacity,” said Chakoroma.
Ngezi Platinum Stars won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Gibbo.
