Warriors defender Talent Chamboko is relishing his debut at senior level and is looking forward to be a regular in the national team set-up.

Despite crashing out of the ongoing CHAN finals in Cameroon, Chamboko said it has been a wonderful experience to represent his county.

Zimbabwe lost 3-1 to Burkina Faso Wednesday night, with Partson Jaure on target. Chamboko is among the players that were given the chance by coach Zdravko Logarusic after impressing during friendlies with the national team in the build up to CHAN.

“It’s first time to wear this jersey and at this top level. So it’s a great experience and it’s every player’s wish to represent the country.

“Of course, the results didn’t come the way we expected as a team and we are very disappointed as a group,” said Chamboko.

Chamboko was deployed to the left back in the previous two games and he admitted defensive blunders have been their worst enemy.

He said it is not the time to point fingers at each other but regroup to post a positive result against Mali on Sunday.

“We lost all the games because of blunders that could have been avoided. But it’s not time to point fingers and blame one another, it’s time to move on as a team and look forward to the next game. “Rather the lesson here is there are no short-cuts in football.

“We came to this tournament knowing what is at stake. Knowing that we haven’t played football the whole year and those mistakes were bound to happen.

“However, we wouldn’t want to use that as an excuse because the fans won’t understand it. We are shouldering the blame,” he said.

He said they now need to shift focus to their match on Sunday and other future assignments.

“We have to quickly shift focus to Sunday and at least come back home with something in the bag. “Also look forward to future assignments for the national team, if the chance arises we will always fight for the badge,” said Chamboko.
