TALENT Chawapiwa has joined DSTV Premiership debutants Sekhukhune United on a one-year-deal.
The winger, who signed yesterday, is coming from Amazulu and still had another year with the Durban side but decided to terminate the contract.
He confirmed the development to H-Metro Sport saying it is a good move for him.
“I’m happy to have signed for Sekhukhune, I think the move is good for me because there are things I have considered and I’m happy.
“It’s a new team and have their expectations and targets and it’s a new challenge for me but I think I’m ready to do my all for the team.
“And I’m hoping to get game time and help my team in any way l can,” he said.
“My stay at Amazulu was fine, I managed to play some games though I didn’t manage to play a lot last season as I would’ve wanted.
“But I had a good stay and I’m grateful to the management and coaches for giving me a chance.
“And I wish them the best.”
Chawapiwa said he does not want to promise much since he has just joined but wants to do his best for his new paymasters.
“I don’t have a lot l want but to just help my team in any way l can. They have signed me to show that they believe in my abilities, so I will not disappoint them.
“I want to be a better player, I want to maybe score more goals and I’m also hopeful for an injury free season, God willing and also help my team achieve its targets. Because at the end of the day it’s not about me but team work.
“It is also my wish that we can get to stay in the league since they just got promoted,” he said.
“I’m happy to be here and looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and training.
“And I’m ready for the kick-start of the season and do what I love which is to play football. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
