VINCENT Chawonza could be set for a sensational return to Dynamos just months after he left the club in acrimonious circumstances.

Sources have said Chawonza has also filed papers for a place on the ZIFA board.

He was pushed out of the Glamour Boys by his fellow executive committee members amid some serious in-fighting at the club.

The businessman has crafted a reputation for himself as one of the sober minds and very professional leaders in the domestic game.

Chawonza retreated into the background, after the boardroom coup, but kept attending Dynamos matches and supporting the Glamour Boys.

Sources told H-Metro that while discussions are still at a very preliminary stage, there is a likelihood that the two parties could reunite with Chawonza returning to take his place on the DeMbare leadership table.

“There are some meetings going on in the background and while it’s still early stages, the point is that some talks are going on.

“It appears that the club’s flagship sponsors Sakunda want to see a new direction for the team in the coming season and that will be factored in the negotiations for the renewal of the sponsorship package in the coming weeks.

“Chawonza appears to have impressed many people who are connected to Dynamos, and that includes the sponsors, and they see in him someone who can make a difference.

“Nothing has been agreed yet but the key point is that talks are going on in the background and when that happens it tells you there is something brewing up.”

The Glamour Boys successfully defended their Chibuku Super Cup and will be back in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

But, it was yet another season in which they missed out on the one prize which matters to them the most – the league championship.

When the new season starts next year, Dynamos would have spent 11 years without winning the championship – the longest barren run without the title in the club’s history.

The arrival of ambitious and well-funded clubs has changed the domestic football landscape and there are fears DeMbare could lose many of their key players, including the Moyo twins, to newboys Scottland.

The club’s campaign was marred by regular protests from the players over unpaid bonuses.
