Chief Shumba’s forth-coming nine-track album is laden with collaborations.

Simply titled Polonium 210, the ED Pfee singer went full circle and collaborated with both seasoned and upcoming artistes on this rare album.

To him, it’s a first on the local showbiz as the singer came up with a unique concept.

 

In the opening track titled Waradzwiwa, he featured Orchestra Dendera Kings paymaster Suluman Chimbetu and the song is simply a masterpiece.

His ‘bromance’ with Baba Harare continue to yield results as the two collaborated on the second track, Ndiwe.

 

Gospel supremo Baba Manyeruke blessed the album when he featuring on the song Ngatinamate while Mathias Mhere featuring in the song Tiyambutse.

 

To ensure that the album has a sungura feel, Chief Shumba was charmed by Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria’s creative edge and featured him on the track Munamato.

 

Unheralded and yet talented Tendai Muchesi featured on the track Wanyarara while Norman Tapambwa combined forces with Chief Shumba on the song Usati Kanganwa.

 

Not to be outdone is sungura rookie Tongai Moyo junior who featured on the song Unozviva.

 

The bulk of the songs were recorded by Maselo who baked fibe tracks.

 

The other four songs were recorded by Tapambwa and Jonathan Mgazi.

 

The album with be launched on October 15 on Radio Zimbabwe.

 

In an interview with H-Metro, Chief Shumba said:

 

“It’s a concept that has not been done in Zimbabwe and I did this to show others that we are united as artistes.

 

“I also wanted to prove a point that I get along with my peers who do both secular  and gospel music.

 

“In short, we are all artistes who have a role to play  and  I really enjoyed this collaboration  that will go a long way in showing our unity of purpose.”

 

The 33-year-old who has been doing jingles  for the greater part of lockdown was pleased by response he is getting from fans.

 

“I’m one artistes who have a number of hits yet I also dwell into politics.

 

“There are some artistes who have failed to win hearts of many after singing politics but in my case I am happy that fans have embraced me.

 

“I have a number of jingles on Pfumvudza, Coronavirus and anti-sanctions.

 

“Jingles have kept me busy in lockdown  and as an artistes I think I managed to utilise my talent in such campaigns,” he said.

 

Besides Polonium 210, he burst on the entertainment seen with his debut album titled Hwenje Tiri Musanga released in 2016.

 

It was followed by Chembere in Mhanza in 2017.

 

In 2018, he recorded another titled Akonzera Ndiwe.

 

His 2020 production Judas Mutengesi makes his discography complete.
