BULAWAYO Chiefs secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Triangle United to ease their relegation concerns, while their opponents now face a real risk of being demoted.
Ayanda Ncube and Panashe Shoko scored for Chiefs in their vital win.
The victory moved Chiefs into position 12 on the table with 39 points while Triangle United, with two games left to play in the league season find themselves in the danger zone on position 16 with 34 points.
Yadah defeated outgoing champions FC Platinum 2-1 to ensure the battle for survival will go to the final games, with King Nadolo grabbing the winner a minute from full time.
Black Rhinos all but surrendered after losing 3-0 to Hwange, who are now guaranteed Premiership football next season.
Greenfuel allowed CAPS United to come from two goals down in a 2-2 draw, keeping the newcomers part of the relegation equation for now.
“We have been waiting for this result. We applied ourselves well. Focus is now on our next match in which we have to raise the bar higher,” said Chiefs coach, Johanisi Nhumwa.
Triangle coach John Nyikadzino was disappointed with the result.
“l expected us to get something away from home. Chiefs managed to use the chances that came their way and we did not. After missing the chances we got, Chiefs went on to punish us. The difference at the end of the day was that Chiefs were accurate in front of goal,” said Nyikadzino.
