Chiefs hopeful of Billiat return Khama Billiat

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter is hoping for the return of Khama Billiat this weekend after the Zimbabwean forward missed the midweek draw against AmaZulu due to illness.

Prior to the game against Usuthu, Billiat had started every game for Chiefs this season looking lively again playing with Keagan Dolly.
“I think our form has been good. It has been a battling performance when we have needed a battling performance and been technically good when we have needed to pick our way.

“In the last game (against Maritzburg United) we even started being more efficient on set plays. But I don’t want to include tonight (Wednesday) in a good run. I’m hoping that tonight (Wednesday) was an anomaly and it will be back to the drawing board when we consider all the injuries, red cards, suspensions and illnesses and still have to put together a squad for Swallows we are on the right path,” he says after having played minus Samir Nurkovic,

Leonardo Castro and Billiat on Wednesday with Lebogang Manyama a late introduction.

This forced Bernard Parker to play as a top man in a position that he hasn’t filled for a while.

“Bernard has been doing well in that wider role. His movements have been great, and he has been getting into spaces but then playing with his back to goal tonight he battled his way, and it wasn’t the same.

“We have Leo Castro and Samir Nurkovic and Khama all out while we have Lebo (Manyama) crawling his way back into it, so we arguably have four top-class players missing.

“Bernard is a very good player, but I like him coming from that angle rather than playing with his back to goal. You miss good players. You always do. That is all we had tonight and that is not an excuse but unfortunate,” adds the experienced gaffer. – Kick Off.
