DYNAMOS forward, Elton Chikona, could be deregistered and stripped of the Castle Lager Premiership Rookie of the Year award he won last year if he is found guilty of having a double identity.
Chikona and Herentals forward, Leon Daka, were ejected from the Young Warriors squad which is taking part in the three-team competition, which gets underway today, in Malawi.
According to ZIFA cources, the duo was sent home for failing age eligibility tests.
PSL spokesperson, Kudzai Bare, said they were aware of the speculation and they cannot make a decision on the case until the evidence is provided.
These two have been registered as juniors by their clubs.
These are slots which are meant for five developmental players, who are under the age of 19.
Bare said in the event that there is a solid case against the duo, the PSL Disciplinary Committee will then decide their fate.
“We are aware of Daka and Chikona’s issue but at the moment our hands are tied because our decision should not be inspired by a mere speculation.
“We are not ignoring anything but if they are found guilty of age-cheating, PSL will respond to the matter as soon as possible,” said Bare.
That could see the duo being deregistered while Chikona will lose the special award he won last year.
He beat his then teammate, Junior Makunike, by one vote.
