CHICKEN Inn midfielder Tichaona Chipunza hopes to be among this season’s soccer stars, almost halfway through the campaign.
He was speaking to H-Metro after winning the player of the month for June at the Chicken Inn awards on Monday.
The gamecocks held the awards to honour players who have excelled for the past three months with inform striker Clive Augusto winning big.
Augusto’s fine form saw him winning the April and May and other man of the match awards while Chipunza won for June as well as man of the match awards.
“It’s still early to talk about clinching the soccer star award but if I keep working extra hard and perform well every game, it is possible.
“If I help the team to win the league at the end of the season, I will have big chances for it,” he said.
The former Ngezi Platinum and Dynamos player saluted his teammates and the technical team for his good performance.
“I want to thank God because he is the provider of all and also my teammates because we are working together as a team.
“My teammates are also helping me to perform well and I also want to thank the technical team for what they are doing to make me improve game by game,” said Chipunza.
Chipunza also pointed out that such awards motivates them as players to do well.
“Receiving the June award motivates me a lot to put more effort and focus with my game,” added Chipunza.
He said this award will push him to keep on improving this season.
“I will just keep on working hard at training so that I keep improving game by game and helping the team,” he said.
