OBRIEL Chirinda is showing no signs of slowing down this season.
The Bulawayo Chiefs forward was yesterday unveiled as the Player of the Month for September following a fruitful month with Amakhosi Amahle.
The burly striker played a pivotal role as Chiefs won twice and drew the same number of games in September, to fight their way up from the relegation matrix.
“Thanks so much to everyone who voted for me; I really appreciate it. First of all, I just want to take this time to thank the Almighty for the gift of life and to thank the whole Bulawayo Chiefs family for supporting me from day one up today.
“I really don’t know what to say now, I’m out of words. But I’m so happy to win this award again. We put it in the bag and keep on working more,” said Chirinda.
The forward won the PSL Player of the Month in July.
He missed six games due to injury in recent months but once he recovered the striker continued with his goal-scoring form and was the key man for Chiefs in September.
The highlight of the month was when he scored the winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Dynamos at Barbourfields, despite Chiefs having spent the better part of the week haggling with their management over outstanding dues.
Chiefs went into the match ill-prepared after the players boycotted training for two days.
Nonetheless, they regrouped and put up a sterling show.
And for Chirinda, the winner was a milestone goal for the forward as it was the first time in his career that he reached double figures.
He was on target again the following week, with an 84th minute winner against Yadah as Bulawayo Chiefs claimed an identical 2-1 victory.
