Fungai Muderere in BULAWAYO
OBRIEL Chirinda is feeling on top of the world.
He was recently named September Player of the Month by the Premier Soccer League and the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe.
The forward has been in good form for Bulawayo Chiefs.
“It’s a great feeling, it all shows that from day one I have been working very hard,” he told Zimpapers Sport.
“I have been pushing and I say thanks to my teammates who have been pushing me.
“It’s a good achievement and winning awards shows that I’m moving in the right direction so I am happy to win the September award of the Premier League and also FUZ one.”
He is the country’s leading top goal scorer with 11 goals to his name, one ahead of Manica Diamonds’ Fortune Binzi.
“I don’t have a target on the number of goals that I want to score.
“What is important is to play games and help the team get maximum points.
“So, I don’t have a specific target, I just have to keep on scoring goals.”
Chirinda was part of the Warriors squad that concluded a training camp in Harare on Monday.
“I am happy to be in the senior national team set-up.
“It was pleasing to meet and play with the likes of Knox and Devine as we were together in camp for a couple of days.
“I must say I learnt a lot from them.”
