Chitungwiza Municipality mayor Lovemore Maiko has tested positive to Covid-19. In a statement, Maiko said he is now following quarantine protocols but urged all those he was in contact with to also get tested.
“I got tested for Covid-19 and it came out positive. I kindly ask for your prayers as I battle this deadly pandemic,” he said.
“All the people I have come into contact with in the last 2 weeks, I urge you to get tested, for those in Chitungwiza visit Zengeza 3 clinic, please stay safe, this pandemic is real. Always mask up, maintain social distance, wash your hands and sanitise.”
Meanwhile, Chitungwiza Municipality acting town clerk Tonderai Kasu said they had closed the Zengeza administration office for disinfection.
“We are advising our stakeholders and ratepayers that our Zengeza administration offices will be closed from tomorrow January 12 (yesterday) for disinfection.
“This is a result of one of our staff members who tested positive to Covid-19. For the time being, payments can be made at our head office or any one of our offices. The Zengeza offices will be opened soon after disinfection,” he said.
As on January 11 2020, Zimbabwe has recorded 22,297 positive cases with 13,213 recoveries and 528 deaths.
