The song Ebenezer had a great influence as a good gospel song and the man behind its creation is increasingly becoming a hit maker.
Reverend Togarepi Chivaviro has had it all this past weekend as he commanded top spots with three of his songs Matishamisa, It Is Not Over and Hande Tinovaka off his 14th offering voted among the best.
The songs claimed the number one spots on three different chat shows including Star FM’s Gospel Great top 20, Radio Zimbabwe Gospel 20 Hits and the Coca-cola Radio Zimbabwe Top 20 respectively.
However, the musician, who also leads the Assemblies of Pentecostal Methodist Church, owes the growing popularity to his interaction with both fellow musicians and fans.
The man has so far had his musical influence reach the Trumpet Africa Gospel Music Awards and the SABC Crown Gospel Awards.
The South Africa based worshiper is taking the events over the past weekend as his best memory so far this year.
“It’s not that easy to have three of your songs from the same album claiming first positions on three different chat shows, its can only be God’s doing.
“This is a first in my whole 20-year-career and its every artiste’s dream to have his or her music achieve such a goal on local radio stations.
“I am grateful to God, fellow musicians, producers and my fans who are using their hard earned cash to vote and afford me this rare opportunity,” he said.
Commenting on his secret to his recent music success, Chivaviro said:
“I think it could be the way I have been interacting with my fans lately, this year only we have involved them in more than three programs since the turn of 2018.
“I believe its God who also gives each and every artiste his season and mine has come now.
“After making Ebenezer with Baba Charamba, Baba Manyeruke, Rumbi Zvirikuzhe, Kudzi Nyakudya and Pastor Haisa, we have had at least one hit song from the albums that came after.”
In 2016, the musician’s song Mhepo Inoperekedza had rave reviews on local radio before having similar attention with his Maranatha in 2017 and now the three songs from his current album holding its own.
Chivaviro has been commanding top spots on the Coca-Cola Radio Zimbabwe top 20 with the songs Matishamisa and It Is Not Over for close to three months whilst becoming a regular on Star FM’s Gospel Greats for some weeks now.
The Ebenezer hit-maker is planning a massive celebration to mark his 20 years in the music industry on July 3.
“This calls for celebrations and I have already lined up a celebration to mark my 20th anniversary as a musician.
“With everything now falling into its right place I wish to invite my fans and fellow musicians to celebrate this milestone,” he said.
Chivaviro had his first studio album in 1999 titled Peace, Hope and Love.
He is married to Juliet Chivaviro and the two are blessed with two children – Tinashe, 14, and Munashe, 11.
