A VISUALLY impaired pastor, who has served a church for 19 years, was yesterday evicted from the church’s premises.
Pastor Obert Madoromadi, 58, of Christ Ministries, was thrown out of the church and school premises, together with his family, following a court order.
Christ Ministries secretary-general, Dr Godfrey Kanyenze, told H-Metro that Pastor Madoromadi had been too talkative in the wrangles within the church in the wake of the death of the church founder Cuthbert Makoni.
“Pastor Madoromadi has been evicted because of violating a court order,” said Dr Kanyenze.
“Anga achitaurisa zvakanyanya kuda kuzviita hama yekwaMakoni.
“According to our tradition, we must respect our elders but this one was against the mother of our late founder.
“I am sure you are aware of the two factions where one side is with the mother and the other one is fighting for the late founder’s son to take over leadership.
“This is where the problem started and Pastor Madoromadi had been at the forefront.
“Zvekuti haaone izvo ndezvake nekuti kusaona kwacho misikanzwa yake.”
Pastor Madoromadi told H-Metro the faction which evicted him was hiding behind the mother of the late founder.
“They decided to evict me because I am visually impaired,” said Pastor Madoromadi.
“We are behind the son of the late founder, together with others, but they targeted me because I have been demanding an increase in our monthly allowances so as to educate our children.
“Imagine, they have been giving us US$3 per month while others are receiving US$50.
“Izvozvo zvekuti tiwedzerei mari ndiyo yandadzingirwa kuseni seni ndakarara.”
He added:
“I lost my sight due to sugar diabetes not what the doctor wants people to believe.
“I opened a number of branches and served this ministry for over 19 years.
“They have treated me ruthlessly, heartlessly, as if I am a devil.
“The wrangle is still pending before the courts of law but they are fighting us because they are aware that their mission is to take control of the ministry’s funds under the name of an 87-year-old woman.”
The administrators have barred the late founder’s son, Collin Zondai Makoni, from entering the church premises as well as the church school, for the past two years.
Another church elder, Pastor Eustace Makoni, who is the son to the late founder, has been suspended by the Christ Ministries High School headmaster, without pay.
“I was given a suspension letter without pay for sympathising with Pastor Madoromadi.
“They spotted me feeding Pastor Madoromadi’s twins, who returned from school to find their father evicted,” said Pastor Makoni.
Pastor Madoromadi spent the better part of yesterday by the roadside along Bishop Gaul Road in Belvedere.
