A local church leader is standing accused of duping a Zimbabwean businessman based in South Africa of more than R422 000.
Pastor Elson Kufa of Pure Care Ministries was reported to have received R422 573,50 from Francis Kawaza as payment for ceiling boards he however, failed to supply.
Francis lodged a report at the police against him and Pastor Kufa was arrested and taken to Harare Central Police Station.
The fraud case was further referred to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Commercial Crimes Department.
Francis clashed with the investigating officer and lodged a complaint against police at Police General Headquarters under case number 481/23.
Francis felt the docket passed through dirty hands and demanded a redress.
He argued that a fraud case was initially opened against Pastor Kufa and the case was altered to theft of trust property.
“Chinyanganya prepared a docket without recording my statement.
“He altered the fraud charge to theft of trust property.
“By this, my plans to invest in my motherland has been shattered by this so called man of cloth.
“Instead of repenting Kufa went on to approach law enforcers with his dirty hands and fooled them to alter a prepared docket.
“I felt duped left right and centre that is why I decided to take my matter before the Commissioner General of Police Godwin Matanga to warn his detective.
“Tinoendepi senyika kana panemupurisa anehunhu hwakasvibiswa zvekunyora kuti munhu anobirwa mari yakawanda kudaro haashande.
“Only to help a fraudster to get away from the law.
“I am self employed but Chinyanganya changed it to not employed,” said Francis.
In the protest, Francis described Pastor Kufa as evil, pathological liar and enemy of his countrymen.
“Pastor Kufa fraudulently used Builders Hub’s name and invoice to procure building material from me and I believed Builders Hub.
“I only got to realise that Builders Hub had no knowledge of any transaction between myself and Kufa.
“Furthermore, Kufa sent us a fake WhatsApp message between him and somebody at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) pretending that there would be money paid to us from the RBZ Auction.
“Builders Hub opened a case against Kufa for using their name and Chinyanganya overlooked this in trying to change the case from criminal to civil after being misled by Kufa,” said Francis.
