Lovemore Chazingwa in KADOMA

THE city of KADOMA is mourning a beloved police officer, who served her community with distinction, who died after she was hit by a Nissan El Grande on Saturday night.

Constable Brilliant Kwani was only 34 and was stationed at Rimuka Police Station.

She died along Mupamombe Road.

Kwani had been in the force for 10 years.

Sources said the driver of the vehicle initially fled the scene, in panic, before handing himself over at Kadoma Central Police Station.

Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga, in a message read on his behalf by Inspector Shelter Rafu, said:

“Cst Brilliant Kwani passed on in the line of duty on May 4, 2024. She demonstrated respect, honesty discipline and dedication to duty.

“That conduct made her an invaluable asset in the service.

“We dearly miss her and the contribution that we perceive we would earn from her in the future.”

 A family member said:

“We can’t judge for the Creator who has made His decision. We’re at a loss of words over this tragedy. May you all be blessed for consoling us as both the Bhuza and Kwani families.”

Cst. Kwani joined the force on May 8, 2014.

On completion of her training, she was deployed under the Police Protection Unit (PPU), where she served for eight-and-a-half years.

She was then seconded to Rimuka Police Station.

All seven ZRP districts from Mashonaland West Province attended the burial ceremony.

Cst. Kwani leaves behind a husband, Walter Bhuza, and three children, Tinotenda (14), Tawananyasha (8), and three-year-old Tanaka.
