Copper cables thief in court

A 35-YEAR-OLD Harare man has appeared in court accused of illegal possession of copper cables.

Kenneth Chokubodza pleaded not guilty when he appeared before magistrate Babra Mateko charged with possession of Telecommunication materials.

The matter was deferred to September 13.

Allegations are that on May 8, the accused was found in possession of TelOne drop wire cables.

Chokubodza used TelOne drop wires to connect electricity lights in his house at Umwinsdale Road in Harare.

A tipoff was made to a nearby security guard who searched Chokubudza and recovered TelOne drop wire cables connect.

They recovered cables were weighed in the presence of the accused person at National Railways of Zimbabwe and it weighed 0.5kg and they are valued at $35.

Chokubodza was then arrested.
