THE past three days have witnessed a surge in new Covid-19 cases.
The majority of cases have been detected from schools, especially in Matabeleland North and Masvingo.
There were 609 new cases on Wednesday, rising from 302, which were reported on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, schools in Masvingo recorded 67 cases, Manicaland 41, Mashonaland West seven and Matabeleland North 94.
On Tuesday there were two deaths recorded.
Schools in Masvingo reported 27 cases on Tuesday, Matabeleland North 34, Manicaland 19 cases, Mashonaland Central five and 10 from Mashonaland West.
On Wednesday, 3070 people received their first vaccination dose, bringing the cumulative number, for the first dose, to 4 343 700.
On Wednesday, there were 47 hospitalised cases, seven new admissions, 15 asymptomatic, 26 mild-to-moderate cases, five severe cases and one in the intensive care unit.
There were 5930 tests done with 13 percent positivity on Wednesday.
There were 90 new recoveries, with the national recovery standing at 96 percent.
