DYNAMOS captain Frank Makarati says the team is shifting its focus to its next league game against Triangle United after their victory over FC Platinum in the Chibuku Super Cup.

DeMbare won 5-3 on penalties after the two teams deadlocked 1-1 in regulation time during which both teams put in some impressive performances.

Key players Donald Mudadi, Tanaka Shandirwa, and Elton Chikona were absent as they were on duty with the national team in Botswana. Sensational forward Elton Chikona is on trials in Spain.

FC Platinum were also missing Walter Musona and Brian Banda who were also on national duty.

Makarati stated that the club takes every game as it comes and focuses on winning.

The team is not setting long-term goals, but rather they concentrate on preparing for and winning each game.

In the two previous editions of the cup, Dynamos have been knocked out of the prestigious tournament by the FC Platinum.

Makarati said he is happy with the team progressing to the semi-finals, but they are shifting focus to their next match.

“We have shifted focus to our next game which is against Triangle.

“As a club, we are taking every game as it comes and we are giving the same approach which is to win games. We don’t need to be apologetic against any opponent whether league or cup as we have psyched up ourselves to match and dominate any opponent.

“We are happy that we have progressed to the next round. Today’s match was a tough one with both teams having their moments but as a team, we managed to show character as we found ourselves trailing at one point. We had to adjust and we did find a goal which sent us to penalties. We did well and took our chances.

“Taking the penalty first is a way of instilling confidence in the team and trying to set a pathway for others and you can tell it worked.

“As a team, we are not focusing on saying maybe we want to achieve this and that in the next five games. The approach is simple for us; we focus on the game at hand, give it our best possible preparation, and apply ourselves to the best possible way on the field to win it. So, the focus is to take every game as it comes and win it,” Makarati said.
