NGEZI Platinum coach Rodwell Dhlakama says they are going for the big one ahead of the 2020 Premiership season.

In an interview on the sidelines of the team’s 2020 squad unveiling ceremony, Dhlakama made their title aspirations clear.

Ngezi introduced 12 new players and retained 16 from last season’s squad – taking the tally to 28.

“When you look for players, you have to do scouting first. We did all that and these are the players that have impressed me.

“We brought experience and the depth to the team too. I am happy with the new players, they have responded well and are eager to do whatever it takes to meet the club’s target,” said Dhlakama.

Ngezi also roped in Takesure Chiragwi as Dhlakama’s assistant.

Frank Makarati remains the team captain.

Having finished fourth last season, the Mhondoro-based side is seeking a maiden league title, which Dhlakama has promised.

“Last season, we were the second best defending team. We were not offensive enough and we have addressed that area. We bought in enough offensive players and I am sure this season we won’t struggle on getting goals,” he added.

Ngezi are set for South Africa pre-season tour.

The team has lost Donald Teguru, Neilson Ketala, Barnabus Mushunje and Tatenda Mchisa.
