Dispute over vending cart leads to brawl, spills into court

A BRAWL, which erupted after a dispute over a vending cart, has spilled into the Harare Civil Court.

for allegations of assault.

Veronica Chinyerere is accusing Loyld Chikwai of physical assault.

In her application, Veronica wants Lloyd barred from visiting her workplace.

“I do not want to see him where my market stall is.

“On 28 November, Loyld had an altercation with my daughter and he assaulted her and started barring customers from buying from her.

“He said pano nhasi hapatengeswi.

“He took hold of my vending cart and he threw out all the fruits I sell.”

Loyld denied assaulting Veronica’s daughter.

“I asked her daughter if they could return my vending cart, she refused telling me that i couldn’t do anything to her.

“I told her I was taking the cart to the police station.

“As I was pushing the vending cart, she got hold of me by the collar and grabbed me by the neck.

“When I wanted to retaliate, that’s when she said if you touch me I’m going to report you for touching me.”

Magistrate Mandlenkosi Ndlove granted the peace order to Veronica.
