THE trial of Ediso Sani, who stabbed DJ Cosmos to death at a party in Highfield in March last year, failed to kick off yesterday with indications that he is yet to get legal representation.
Sani (43) is accused of fatally stabbing DJ Cosmos four times with a dagger, at his ex-wife, Amina Rufani’s party.
The callous murder was committed in full view of guests at the party.
Sani yesterday told High Court judge, Justice Rodgers Manyangadze, that he wasn’t ready for trial, and applied for the matter to be postponed to allow him to decide on his legal representation.
Justice Manyangadze provisionally deferred the hearing to January 18.
It is the State’s case that Sani fatally stabbed DJ Cosmos four times in the abdomen and throat after being restrained from attacking Rufani.
DJ Cosmos, real name Cosmas Zimbowa, had been hired to perform at Rufani’s birthday in Egypt, Highfield, Harare.
The State said Sani stormed the party armed with a dagger (bakatwa), with the intention of attacking Rufani.
He was restrained by DJ Cosmos, and in a fit of rage stabbed the DJ twice on the neck, and twice in the abdomen.
DJ Cosmos died on the spot.
