SOUTH AFRICA based wheel-spinner, DJ Virgo, is this Sunday expected to hold a solidarity bash aimed at uniting deejays from various stables.
Dubbed “DJ Virgo and Friends Hip Hop/Dancehall Party” the potentially exciting bash features hip hop and dancehall deejays from Pretoria and Johannesburg.
The bash has been set for Club Yolo Sunnyside, a venue DJ Virgo spins every Sunday.
Speaking to H-Metro, DJ Virgo said:
“This bash is just a reminder for all invited deejays that will be performing at the event that there is need for unity in our industry for us to go forward.
“Music is not about competition but coming together to as entertainers with the revelers and just celebrate being one, that way there is more progress made because people are working together.
“We decide to bring hip hop and dancehall together so as break the notion that the two type of deejays do not really mix and as a way to just add flair to the show which is usually all about dancehall and reggae.”
Among the deejays on the line is DJ Dolla, Timmy D, Dee Vybz, Berry, Irie Dread from Johannesburg, Mel and Stramma among many others.
