TWO men were on Monday assaulted and dragged to the police after they were caught breaking into a house and a shop.

Promise Mandinga, 24, of Eastview, was caught stealing at the house of Sladge Kazunguza, 36, at around 0100hrs after breaking the locked main door and gaining entry.

Promise went into the house and met Sladge, who had been awakened by the noise.

He assaulted Sladge and overpowered him.

This forced Sladge to scream for help and his neighbours came to his rescue.

Sladge sustained bruises on his left shoulder as a result and Promise was dragged to Mabvuku Police Station.

In another incident, Wilson Nota, 23, of Esbank Farm in Mazowe, was spotted by a security guard manning another building as he gained entry into Chenjerai Chiruka’s shop around midnight.

The security guard quickly informed Chenjerai.

Wilson had stolen a US$10 note when Chenjerai arrived and took him to Marlborough Police Station.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrests.

“Police arrested two suspects for unlawful entry and theft in Eastview and Esbank Farm.

“The two are expected to appear in court tomorrow (today),” said Insp Chakanza.
