TWO men were on Wednesday arrested in connection with unlawful entry and theft cases in Dzivaresekwa and Kuwadzana areas.

Stanley Kandaya, 37, of Dzivaresekwa in Harare, and Tichaona Soda, 45, of Unit M Seke in Chitungwiza, were reported to have been terrorising residents in the area between May and June this year.

In a statement, Zimbabwe Republic Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) acting spokesperson, Detective Assistant Inspector Rachael Muteweri, said some items were recovered upon their arrest.

The spokesperson urged people to be cautious and avoid falling prey to criminals.

“The two are now facing five counts of unlawful entry and theft during the period extending from May to June 2022,” said Det Ass Insp Muteweri.

“They would forcibly open locked doors, gain entry, ransack the house before stealing household property and other valuables.

“They would also target tuck shops.

“In one of the incidents that occurred in June 2022, the accused persons broke into a tuck shop and stole various groceries, and went away unnoticed.

“On 12 June 2022, using the same modus operandi, they forced open the administration office door and gained entry into the office at a school in Chitungwiza.

“They ransacked the office before getting away with three laptops, a Defy refrigerator and other valuables.

“Luck ran out on the two on 10 July 2022 when detectives got wind that they were behind the commission of these crimes. A team of detectives swiftly reacted to the information leading to their arrest.”

Police detectives recovered a 42 inch LG television, two laptops, cell phones, computer accessories, groceries and a Defy refrigerator amongst other items.

Det Ass Insp Muteweri also confirmed the arrest of Isaac Makande, 28, of Epworth, in Harare, for unlawful entry into premises and theft of car parts.

The accused person, targeting motor spare parts shops, would force open locked doors and steal various car accessories.

She said various car accessories were recovered following the arrest of the accused person.

He was taken to Mbare Magistrate Court where he was remanded in custody.
