TWO Epworth men appeared in court yesterday for allegedly stealing 20 kilogrammes of copper cables valued at $20 000.
Tatenda Tsvauro, 30, and Simbarashe Matumbo, 40, appeared before Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiye who remanded them in custody to December 18 for bail application.
The State alleges that on May 25 this year, Tsvauro and Matumbo worked in connivance and stole copper conductors that weighed 20 kilogrammes from the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission Distribution Company.
They unlawfully and intentionally took into possession material used in connection with the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, the court heard.
Police detectives received a tip-off that the two were in possession of copper cables and proceeded to their place of residence in Epworth to conduct a search.
The court heard that six rolls of copper cables hidden in a car port were recovered and the duo was arrested.
