TWO men were yesterday jailed to nine months in prison for stealing from the Mess building at Manyame Air Base.
Tafadzwa Chokuda and Arkison Jimu were convicted by Mbare magistrate Elizabeth Magomore on their own plea.
The pair was sentenced to 12 months in prison of which three months were suspended on condition they do not commit the same offence within five years.
The State proved that Jimu and Chokuda on February 18 this year connived to steal from Air force of Zimbabwe represented by Munyaradzi Mukucha.
It is the State’s case that the duo went to the Mess building and opened the door of the kitchen were they stole eight litres of cooking oil, 17 kg sugar beans, 20kg sugar, 38kg beef, 32kg chicken and 32 kg rice.
The State had it that on that same night they were arrested by the members of Air force of Zimbabwe who were patrolling the camp at s.
The stolen goods were all recovered.
A report was lodged with the police leading to the pair’s arrest.
